I escaped the castle; yet, crashed into the moat
a hapless, soaking wretch without a throat
I thought rapunzel’s hair would help me down,
but kissing frogs gives warts not golden crowns
I searched the world to find the ‘one’ for me
and in the search, the ‘one’ I found was she
the girl inside my soul afraid to fly,
I gave her wings, a chance, a song to try
I found myself, a strength I nurtured strong
I didn’t need the prince all along.
Rapunzel‘s hair broke; yet, set me free
The one I needed all along was me.
